Lützen Portengen has kindly sent his bird records of the days he spent at Porto Santo Island:
"Possible juvenile Barbary FalconFalco pelegrinoides I observed on 31-08 at the golf course on Porto Santo. I have little/no experience with juvenile brookei Peregrine so I would welcome any comments on the identification. Probably the same bird was observed 1 day earlier on the Pico Branco. Other birds of interest on Porto Santo:
1 juv Spoonbil at the golf course on 31-08
8 Little Egrets at the golf course on 31-08
1 Common Greenshank at Tanque from 28-08 until 31-08
1 Green Sandpiper at Tanque from 28-08 until 31-08
1 Common Sandpiper at Tanque from 28-08 until 29-08
1 juvenile Yellow Wagtail at Tanque from 28-08 until 31-08
1 Pied Flycatcher at Pico Branco on 30-08
1 Willow Warbler in the coastal scrub on 31-08
7 Grey Heron (single group) migrating on 31-08
A word of warning for people ticking Ruddy Ground Dove, Mandarin Duck, Tufted Duck, Eurasian Collared Dove or suspect South-American wildfowl on Porto Santo; while on the island we visited the mini zoo at Quinta das Palmeiros and they have all these species (and many more) flying around freely and (as far as I could see) unringed in considerable numbers."
